About Sunny Meadow Sanctuary

It has long been our dream to rescue farm animals along with the other work we do to help animals. Happily, that dream has become a reality! Two years ago we rescued our first two farm animals, two young female goats, who we named Hannah and Ivy. We soon rescued some ducks and chickens, and Sunny Meadow was born.

The heart of our farm is a large multi-acre meadow, filled with grass, wildflowers, butterflies and all the other great critters and plants that thrive in meadows. Besides providing our own animals' enjoyment and grazing, it also sustains a host of wildlife—deer, mice, groundhogs, wild turkeys, fox, mink, birds, and more. We even get occasional visits from moose! Bluebirds and swallows nest in our meadow bird boxes and they have raised babies there for years. The meadow is a paradise for birds in general. Awash in sun and fresh air, this meadow is not just our sanctuary's namesake; it is also vital to hundreds of animals' wellbeing.

About us personally, besides being the guardians of the animals of Sunny Meadow, we are animal activists, grandparents, and organic gardeners. We have worked to help animals for decades.

Each and every farm animal at Sunny Meadow was saved from going to the slaughterhouse and is now living a peaceful, happy life here at the sanctuary. Unlike some sanctuaries, the farm animals at Sunny Meadow are never bought. If animals are bought, saving them is really "feeding the industry" and causes more suffering down the line. So the animals here are truly "rescued"—not just replaced with other animals who will suffer all over again. And being vegans ourselves, there is no way that we would ever let anyone eat or use our animals for any purpose.

Unlike a shelter, our sanctuary does not seek to place animals with individuals or groups; instead we have pledged to care for each animal until his or her natural death. Right now, Sunny Meadow is a private sanctuary. We hope someday to become a nonprofit but this is pending as of now.

If you can make a donation to the sanctuary that will really help. You can just click the Donate button at the top of this page to do so. Our animals, and future rescued animals, thank you in advance!
